Hi, have we met? Let me introduce myself…
My name is L.J.
I first got interested in fitness through my dance training. I was trained in classical dance from an early age and then decided to pursue a career in the world of contemporary dance. It was in my contemporary dance training that I began to learn more than I had ever known possible about nutrition, body conditioning and a holistic approach to knowing your body and taking care of your body in a way that not only helped me professionally, but also enjoy life to its utmost and optimum.
I really got into the path of fitness after I had torn both my hamstring in dance.
It was a really tough period in which I had to almost start from scratch in learning about ways I could rehabilitate my body, get it back to its original state and also strengthen it to prevent future injury. Pilates and resistance training were such a big part of my rehabilitation and strengthening process and really helped me learn more about my body than I had ever known before! I got into taking classes outside my medium, taking bikram yoga, bosu ball classes, dynamic stretch classes, even pole dancing!
It’s through these explorative experiences that I decided I really wanted to delve into the realm of fitness and become a Certified Personal Trainer. I am currently working towards my certification and hope to also obtain my Pilates Certification!
I currently teach an array of dance classes, as well as a resistance band class. Through teaching I have learned so much, and continue my own educative and creative process…
I have my good days, my bad, but fitness and physical health has helped me in so many ways. Anxiety and depression are things that run in my family, and it’s really through living an active life that I have been able to take control of my life in way which brings me so much happiness and peace.
I want to help people reach their health and fitness goals as well as inspire people to look at fitness and healthy living as more than a stereo-type of “skinny vs.fat”. Healthy living is a pyramid of mind, spirit and body.
It’s through this principle that I hope to work with people in getting them to the place they want to be!
“Don’t live everyday likes it’s your last, but as if everyday were your first.”
So live, laugh, love, get sweaty, work hard, play harder and wake up every morning on the right side of the bed. We only have one life, and it’s happening now.
With love, respect and admiration,
-L.J.
